Part Q regulation:
The change in regulation which came in to force in October 2015 has caused confusion and havoc among bespoke joinery companies.
In similar fashion to the Part L regulation – where all double glazed doors and windows are subjected to testing for its heat loss properties, this revised version of the Part Q regulation is directed at the ironmongery for each item. With this in place a sample door or windows will need to be tested to destruction before being issued with the necessary paperwork to satisfy the building inspector.
Although the reason for such change is to progress the trade forward and only applies to easily accessible ground floor doors and windows, the change is being applied to all such items for new builds and we are able to issue certification for both Part Q and Part L regulations for your new build – making this particular area of your building plans less hassle for your new dream home.
